Our elitserien team fell to Engelholm VS on Thursday night in Gisle Sportcenter by scores of (21-25, 22-25, 23-25), the same set-scores as when our two teams met in October.
Of course to win the match gives you a better feeling, but there are a lot of positives to take away from last night's performance. Our tough serves (9 total team aces) kept us fighting in each set, and our serve-receive gave us many options to use our attackers. Defensively, we can be very proud of our effort and know that we stuck to our game plan completely. Our blockers have been working hard to give our back court a clear area and we got a lot of touches to keep the rallies going.
We must still focus on staying in-the-moment mentally, knowing when we can go-for-it or when we need to place the ball. There were a few times that our unforced errors gave EVS a easy break, and they used that to their advantage.
Now we refocus on preparing for Lindesberg, when we meet them on Saturday, 14 November in Lindesberg Arena.
Player of the Match, GVK: Hanna Salomäki, 14 points (11 kills, 3 aces)
Player of the Match, EVS: Isabelle Haak, 21 points (20 kills, 1 block)
